'Teachers' news: Cast share their thoughts on the upcoming premiere
TVLand's newest show "Teachers" is scheduled to debut early next year, however, fans of the web series the show is based from, can no longer wait for the series to premiere. Thankfully for them, the cast and crew of the show have been more than generous, giving would-be viewers sneak peeks of what is in store for them in the pilot season of "Teachers."
"Teachers," whose web series first debuted three years ago in 2012, is an upcoming half-hour television program created and starred by "The Katydids," a Chicago-based, all-female, all-Katy comedy group. The series was picked up by TVLand after "Community" star, Alison Brie, expressed her interest in producing the TV adaptation of the web series. The program revolves around six elementary school teachers who are dedicated to their vocation, regardless of how messed up their personal lives get.
At this year's Comic-Con, the cast of the show, together with executive producer, Alison Brie, sat down with TVline to discuss the upcoming debut of "Teachers." During the interview, Brie explained how her management introduced her to the web series, "Teachers," and how she immediately knew that she wanted to be attached to the TV adaptation.
"The world needs more. They're going to have it," exclaimed the "Community" star.
In the same group interview, the stars of the show, "The Katydids," spill details about what fans can expect from "Teachers."
"We don't know what your teacher is like outside of school and that is what we are trying to explore," claimed Katy Colloton who plays Ms. Chelsea Snapp, the self-confessed hottie.
Katie Thomas, who plays Deb Adler, further dished and explained how, as a kid, it is difficult to see teachers in a context away from school. She said, "When you are a kid it feels like they only exist in school but when you see them outside school, it's shocking because they don't just live there and only live to serve you."
"Teachers'" sneak peek pilot episode premieres Aug. 31, 2015. The rest of the series is scheduled to be released on January 2016 on TVLand.
