'Switched at Birth' season 5 release date, plot news: Toby and Lily to be given focus in season 5; more 'returning story lines' to be featured
"Switched at Birth's" return from its hiatus is fast approaching and fans can't wait to see the characters back with more drama, especially when Vanessa Marano, who plays Bay in the series, shared what people can expect from the new season.
Speaking recently to Just Jared Jr., Marano exclusively shared that season 5 contains "a lot of returning story lines." A lot of stories ended on a cliffhanger back in season 4's finale, and the production will be putting a closure on them.
"There's a lot of...it's very much like a new year because so much time has passed and the girls are at these new places in their lives," the actress told the publication.
It remains to be seen what storylines will be given focus to, but Toby (Lucas Grabeel) and Lily's (Rachel Shenton) story as new parents will most likely be one of them, as hinted by series creator Lizzy Weiss.
When asked about what's the future like for the new parents, Weiss told The Wrap last year, "The baby has been a big part of the season that we've touched upon a bunch of times, and has been part of our larger series conversation about difference."
The series creator also admitted that Toby and Lily are just starting a journey with their baby, which Weiss described to be a "really beautiful moment." In addition, she said that their story is one of her favorites in the entire series, so it's most likely that Toby and his new family will be given focus.
Meanwhile, "Switched at Birth" has just completed filming its 100th episode. Weiss has been active on Twitter, giving the titles of the first seven episodes of the series.
This got fans all excited. At the moment, there's still no exact release date for season 5, but the show is expected to premiere next month.
