Surface Pro 4 release date, specs, price, rumors: high end device could arrive sooner than expected and coincide with release of Apple iPad Air 3
Recently, Microsoft has been veering away from producing traditional technology by introducing a hybrid device in the form of a laplet - a laptop and tablet combined in one device. The company's initial release Surface Pro was met with considerably positive reviews, with tech insiders considering the Surface Pro 1, 2 and 3 as "laptop killers".
A new version of the Surface Pro is speculated to be in the works with its release reportedly set to come sooner than expected. There is no official confirmation, though the rumored specifications of Surface Pro 4 have already surfaced online.
Microsoft Surface Pro 4 seems to be aiming to rise to the top of the tablet/laptop market with the device featuring Intel's Broadwell chipset, 2k screen resolution, 16 GB memory and 1 TB internal storage. It is speculated that Microsoft will release two variants of Surface Pro 4, a 12" one and a 14" one.
The Surface Pro 4 is expected to pack two cameras, an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 3.5 megapixel front camera. The device is also rumored to be very thin, boasting of cutting edge fan-less technology.
While there is no official confirmation about the upcoming device, some recent developments point to its early release. For instance, Microsoft has recently begun offering its predecessor Surface Pro 3 at a lower price and if reports are to be believed, then the price rollback could be an indication of distributors clearing out stocks of the old version in preparation for the upcoming Surface Pro 4.
There are also rumors that the Surface Pro 4 will be launched soon, considering that Microsoft is scheduled to make Windows 10 available in July this year. The release of its new OS is believed to be a great business move for the tech giant as it will allow the company to incorporate the all-new Surface Pro 4 with its new software.
If the Surface Pro 4 is launched in the third quarter of this year, then it would coincide with the release of Apple's iPad Air 3, which is scheduled to hit the markets at about the same time.
Despite the lack of official confirmation about the launch date of the Surface Pro 4, there have already been reports about its speculated price that place it in the range of $1200-$2000.
