'Super Smash Bros. 4' DLC news: data mining of latest patch uncovers two new stages, three new characters
New content for "Super Smash Bros. 4" dropped on the last day of September, although it was not the content that fans have been hoping for. Instead of new characters that they have been speculating on, fans only got new costumes with the said release. Which brings them all back to guessing as to which new characters might be coming if another major downloadable content becomes available.
Back in September, leaked images have led some to speculating that Shovel Knight (of the game with the same title) will be a playable character in the next DLC. It seems like there will be more than just one new character when the DLC releases. The game's online community has taken joy in mining the data from the latest patch released and they found something to everyone's delight.
"The 1.1.1 Smash update has 3 empty character slots and 4 (2 Ω, 2 norm) stage slots, an increase of one each. Neat," said the post form a certain Neoxon on NeoGaf.
This pushed rumors that one of those slots might indeed be Shovel Knight's. Another slot just might be taken by Professor Layton, with his voice actor Christopher R. Miller sort of confirming in August that he might be in the roster in the next update. That had been unconfirmed by Nintendo, though, and still remains mere wishful thinking.
Nintendo ran a fighter ballot for the popular fighting game to see which characters the fans want to join the ring. The ballot has officially ended last Oct. 3 and results are expected to be out any time soon. According to Event Hubs, the most requested characters include two characters from "Donkey Kong Country" (King K. Rool and Dixie Kong), one form "Golden Sun" (Isaac), one form "Metroid" (Ridley), and another from "Splatoon" (Inkling). The same site also report that Banjo-Kazooie had been allowed as a DLC character by Microsoft.
Find out which characters make it as new fighters in the upcoming "Super Smash Bros. 4" DLC. Stay tuned for further updates.
