'Suits' season 6 rumored to be back on TV by June 22, 2016; premiere episode might run for 90 minutes
There's still one episode left in season five of "Suits" but its loyal followers are not worried. Unlike other shows, "Suits'" fate has been known for a while now, having been renewed almost as soon as season five began.
There was apparently no doubt in the minds of "USA Network's" head honchos that Harvey Specter and his team will continue to do well. The network announced early July that it has picked up a 16-episode sixth season of "Suits." This was quite groundbreaking as the renewal was announced immediately after the first episode of "Suits" season five ran.
According to "USA Network" president, Chris McCumber, the series has "set the bar high in every way and continues to be a strong performer and marquee property for USA." McCumber attributed "Suits" strong showing to the cast members' incredible performances and to the brilliant writing that characterized the legal drama.
At the time, "NBC Universal Cable Entertainment" CCO, Jeff Wachtel, teased that showrunner, Aaron Korsh, has several big surprises in store for the audience. This has turned out to be true as the season finale showed Harvey stepping down and Mike finally getting arrested for fraud.
There is no announcement yet on when "Suits" season six will return. But based on the show's history, it always premiered on either a Wednesday or a Thursday, mid-June. If the show continues with its tradition, then season six might be back on TV screens on June 22, 2016, which is a Wednesday.
There are rumors that season six's premiere episode might again run for 90-minutes, like what the network did last season.
"Suits" follow the lives and careers of the members of a fast-rising Manhattan corporate law firm. The series stars Gabriel Macht, Gina Torres, Meghan Markle, Patrick J. Adams, Rick Hoffman and Sarah Rafferty.
