Steam Winter Sale 2016 start date, games list, news, update: Paypal spills when the great sale begins
One of the largest worldwide digital payment systems, Paypal, announced that Steam's highly anticipated Winter Sale 2016 is going to start Thursday, Dec. 22.
In a social media post through Paypal U.K.'s official Twitter page, it was revealed: "We're delighted to announce the @steam_games #SteamWinterSale is coming on the 22nd. What do you have your eyes on?"
Steam's Winter Sale is another big affair for PC and Mac gamers, especially the ones who missed out on great sales offered during Black Friday. Not to mention, Steam is known to drop the prices of good game titles really low for this limited-time offer.
As of writing, Steam is yet to make its own share of announcements and confirm until when the sale will last but reports are positive that it will go on until Jan. 2 next year. It is also good to recall that this is not the first time Paypal beat Steam at announcing when the Winter Sale will commence.
Despite the lack of official details yet, GameSpot is positive that it will be another good year for a Winter Sale just like Steam did last year when it dropped the prices of up to thousands of games and software.
Just like last month, Nov. 23 to 29, it can be recalled that Steam put up a good sale in time for autumn where newer games were offered at a really low price. Last month, it dropped the prices of "Life is Strange," "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare," "Dark Souls," and "Civilization 6" really low.
Also, like last month, Steam will open the Winter Sale 2016 just in time for the opening of voting for Valve's Steam Awards. Every day from Dec. 22 to Dec. 29, players can vote for one category every 24 hours. On Thursday, the first category to be opened is that of the "Villain Most in Need of a Hug" award wherein players will have to vote among "Borderlands 2," "Dead by Daylight," "Far Cry 3," "Far Cry 4" and "Portal 2."
