'Star Wars' Han Solo film news, spoilers: Spin-off to have 'heist or Western type feel'

(Reuters/PAUL HACKETT)Harrison Ford arrives at the European Premiere of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in Leicester Square, London, December 16, 2015.

There are still a lot of "Star Wars" movies ahead, and one of them focuses on a young Han Solo and his trusted ally, Chewbacca. Recently, Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy revealed a few details about the upcoming Han Solo film.

Fans know that the film will tell the story of a young Han Solo, when he was still a smuggler and way before he got involved with Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker. Since his adventures will be at the center of the movie, it only makes sense that its vibe fits the narrative.

"This moves closer to a heist or Western type feel," said Kennedy, reports Variety. "We've talked about [Frederic] Remington and those primary colors that are used in his paintings defining the look and feel of the film."

The role that Harrison Ford brought to life and made iconic will be portrayed by Alden Ehrenreich, who won the part against over 3,000 other candidates. Donald Glover, known for creating and starring in "Atlanta," will be taking over the role of a young Lando Calrissian, previously portrayed by Billy Dee Williams. Most recently, it was revealed that Emilia Clarke of HBO's fantasy series "Game of Thrones" has been cast in an unnamed role, although it has been said that her character "will round out a dynamic cast of characters that Han and Chewie will encounter on their adventures."

Apart from the upcoming Han Solo film, two more "Star Wars" sequels, and the prequel "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," Lucasfilm also has a few other plans in the works. However, it seems that their decision will be heavily based on audience response. According to Entertainment Weekly, there is also the option of doing standalone movies instead of adding to the saga or creating three at a time.

The untitled Han Solo spin-off will premiere in theaters in 2018.
