'Star Wars: Episode 8' update, news: Mark Hamill teases new catchphrases better than 'May the Force Be with You'
The "Star Wars" franchise is one of the most talked about film series in history. And so it came as no surprise when "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" broke box office records last year. And what could top "Episode VII?" Well, according to Mark Hamill, "Episode VIII."
When Hamill appeared at the "Star Wars" Celebration in London, he set the tone by answering questions from fans. And although the panel only had Hamill on display, he did not disappoint.
"I was looping 'Episode VIII' yesterday, and there's dialogue in there, and I thought, 'Oh boy, I can already see this on a T-shirt. Rian Johnson is amazing,'" Hamill teased. "He'll make you forget all about 'May the Force be with you.' He's come up with so many new catchphrases."
Given that Disney is keeping a fairly tight lid on the upcoming installment, fans will take just about anything related to "Episode VIII." And this is definitely a big one. Hamill's revelation certainly offers up an exciting thing to look forward to. Before long, fans will have a new phrase to use.
Hamill also revealed his experience on "The Force Awakens" and how he reacted when he found out his character, Luke Skywalker, was not going to be in the film for the most part.
"I thought it was a really great surprise. But I don't think they prepared me correctly," he said. Hamill apparently trained twice a week and lost weight for the part. "It's all about preparing you. 'Oh, by the way, all that workout where you lost all the weight? You're going to have to turn — and remove your hood,'" he joked.
Not a lot is known about "Star Wars: Episode VIII," not even details or tiny hints about its storyline or setting. But it's possible that more will be revealed, especially since the film has already wrapped.
Hamill posted a photo of the wrap party on his Instagram account. Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey, also shared snaps on Instagram commemorating the conclusion of filming.
"Star Wars: Episode VIII" will premiere on Dec. 15, 2017.
