Veteran center Matt Bonner may have been snubbed by the San Antonio Spurs this free agency, but he keeps a positive attitude about the future of his playing career in the National Basketball Association (NBA). 

Last month, Bonner spoke about the Spurs who are not re-signing him after he spent the last 10 seasons with them. The "Red Mamba" even went as far as saying he will not be with the franchise in the upcoming season. 

Looking at San Antonio's current roster, it is easy to understand why it is unlikely for Bonner to get another chance.

The likes of LaMarcus Aldridge, Pau Gasol and David Lee are all in the team, ready to man the front line for the Spurs. All of them had much better numbers than Bonner in the past few seasons, especially Aldridge and Gasol who are All-Stars. 

Bonner's chances of again donning the black, gray, and white of San Antonio are slim, although he is not losing hope that he will still play in the NBA. 

"I'm going to fight to get into the league. I'm going to fight to play one more year," Bonner said according to the Concord Monitor's report. 

Bonner also shared that there are organizations interested in him but they have full rosters already. Still, the 36-year-old is "optimistic," with a few more weeks remaining before the new season begins. 

In the majority of Bonner's career, he was never the star, starter or a prolific scorer, but he was a shooter, coming off the bench, who can light it up from long distance. Shooting is the biggest contribution the ex-Florida Gators can give to a squad. Aside from this, perhaps his rich experience could also be considered, since he played for one of the most successful franchises in the history of the league.
