Samsung Gear Fit 2 release date, specs: features could be similar to Microsoft Band 2

(www.samsung.com)Samsung Gear Fit 2 could have a bigger curve on its body like the Microsoft Band 2.

Last month, the existence of the Samsung Gear Fit 2 was revealed in a leak, and since then, buzz about it has continued to grow. As more attention has been paid to the leaked images of the Samsung Gear Fit 2, it has become clear that Samsung wants to emulate the fitness tracker from Microsoft.

The last credible rumors about the Samsung Gear Fit 2 came from tipster Evan Blass, who tweeted leaked images of the device. He also went on to create a post on VentureBeat about it and detailed some of the hardware that are expected to come with it. In the post, Blass even outlined how the Samsung Gear Fit 2 is going to release with a pair of earbuds, which are going to have the Gear IconX brand.

Blass also stated on VentureBeat that the Gear IconX earbuds are going to be more exciting than the Gear Fit 2 as it is thought to play music on standalone mode. Also, the earbuds will be able to function as a fitness tracker. As for the Gear Fit 2 in the leaked images, it is seen to have a bigger curve on its body compared to the earlier Gear Fit.

Industry analysts commenting on the new design of the Gear Fit 2 have indicated that Samsung is clearly trying to follow the example set by the Microsoft Band 2, which released last year. That particular device also has a better strap with an ergonomic design and it has a bigger curve compared to its predecessor, along with a redesigned buckle.

As for the Gear Fit 2, it is also expected to fit better on the wrist of the wearer and could come with adjustable bands. The leaked photos also indicate that the default bands can be changed out easily using the release clasps that are available at the bottom of the Gear Fit 2 and the device will have GPS on board to track runs without carrying along a smartphone.
