Samsung Galaxy S8 release date, specs rumors: Smartphone to come with S Pen, no physical home button?
The hotly anticipated Galaxy S8 smartphone from Samsung has been plagued by rumors and speculations as of late. The latest in the rumor mill is that the device may arrive with an S Pen and no physical home button.
Samsung is known for accompanying its Galaxy Note series with the S Pen stylus. However, considering this year's monumental scandal about the Galaxy Note 7, things may change in 2017. According to reports, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 could have stylus support. The publication notes that there have been rumors about a possible Galaxy S8 measuring 6 inches, which means that there is room for an S Pen stylus.
And while stylus support has always been closely associated with the Galaxy Note series, the inclusion of the S Pen on the Galaxy S8 does not necessarily mean that the Note series has been axed. On the contrary, reports assure Samsung fans that the Note series is still very much alive.
As for the home button, Android Police managing editor David Ruddock broke the news via his Twitter page. Ruddock claims that the upcoming Galaxy S8 will not come with a physical home button; instead, Samsung will shift the navigation keys to software support. Additionally, the soft keys will function like 3D Touch and will apparently be customizable.

Ruddock adds that ditching the physical home button will surely make the bottom bezel of the smartphone much thinner. And for those who are concerned about the fingerprint scanner, Ruddock claims that it will be moved from the front to the back of the Galaxy S8.
And yes, it looks like the fingerprint scanner is being removed from the front. Will go on the back probably, exact placement not clear.

Since these have not been confirmed, though, readers are advised to take this news with a grain of salt.
As for the Galaxy S8's launch, the date has apparently been pushed back to April instead of the usual February unveiling. If this is true, then fans may get the new smartphone in their hands by May 2017.
