'Rick and Morty' season 3 release date rumors, spoilers: Animated series to return before end of year
Fans are still patiently waiting for the release of "Rick and Morty" season 3. It was initially believed that fans will have to wait a year and a half before a new season starts, but show creators revealed the tentative release date for the series earlier this year.
At the Magic City Comic Con panel in January, series co-creator Dan Harmon revealed that season 3 will possibly release before the year ends. Not only did Harmon give fans an idea on when "Rick and Morty" will return, but he also revealed that the new season will have 14 episodes.
The production team has also been active in providing updates to fans via Twitter. In March, the animated series' official page tweeted about censor notes on some of the dialogues for season 3. It only shows that "Rick and Morty" will maintain the profane language it usually has.
Harmon also tweeted last month that season 3 could feature the return of Keith David and his character, the President of the United States. David replied to the post and he said that currently, he's not working with the studio, but Harmon mentioned to him that he'll be the person to turn to when something comes up. So at this point, David's return still needs to be confirmed.
Also, based on the series of tweets from writers and show makers, "Rick and Morty" season 3 is already in production. Writers have already posted photos of their completed scripts. Mike McMahan, for instance, tweeted in February, "Hey @RickandMorty am I allowed to say we're recording episode 301 today?"
Fans are already excited to see the new season, but it's still going to be a long wait. While there has been no official release date news, rumors point that "Rick and Morty" will premiere sometime in December this year. More updates are expected to be released soon.
