'Preacher' season 2 release date: AMC orders 13-episode renewal
"Preacher" season 1 has not yet finished airing, but AMC has already renewed the series for a second season. Fans will be happy to know that the network has ordered a longer season for the next installment, from 10 episodes in season 1 to 13 episodes in season 2.
The news comes exclusively from Variety. The supernatural series has only aired half of season 1 so far, with AMC recently airing a catch-up marathon of the first half of the show.
Meanwhile, the upcoming episode of "Preacher" season 1 will see Jesse (Dominic Cooper) finding out about the source of his abilities. The synopsis for episode 6, titled "Sundowner," has been released.
At last, Jesse will meet the angels known as Deblanc and Fiore. He will also delve deeper into the story behind the mysterious entity that has possessed his body.
A trailer has also been released for the new episode. Jesse sees a wanted sign of Deblanc (Anatol Yusef) and Fiore (Tom Brooke). He then meets with them at what looks to be a diner. "If it isn't God, what is it then?" Jesse asks. "It's a mistake," Deblanc counters. It seems that what he has is something that both angels and demons desire. Jesse is warned that should anyone find out about the entity, they will seek it out for their own purposes. It seems that Jesse will also get into a fight, as guns are shown and Jesse is seen with blood dripping down from his forehead. Based on the 30-second clip, episode 6 will see a lot of conflict between Jesse and the two angels.
For those who are unfamiliar, "Preacher" focuses on Jesse Custer, a preacher from Texas. For reasons yet unknown, a mysterious entity called Genesis makes its way into Jesse's body, giving him the ability to control people. The show is based on a comic book series of the same name.
"Preacher" season 1 episode 6 will air on Sunday, July 3, on AMC.
