Portland Trail Blazers trade rumors 2016: Clippers' Blake Griffin the missing piece?

All-Star point guard Damian Lillard is the face of the franchise for the Portland Trail Blazers, who are Western Conference contenders. However, one of the reasons why they are not viewed as title favorites is because they lack another star player who could help them make it to the next level. An option they might target to improve their chances is Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers.

(Reuters/Gary A. Vasquez/USA TODAY Sports)Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin (32) moves the ball as Portland Trail Blazers forward Al-Farouq Aminu (8) pulls his jersey during the second half at Staples Center.

During the off-season, Griffin was in the rumor mill due to the off-court issues and injuries that troubled him. One of these is the reported tension between him and fellow Clippers star Chris Paul.

The Clippers have no plans to deal away Griffin but he is still vulnerable to speculations, and him leaving Lob City soon may finally happen. It's possible the Blazers could be the ones pulling this off successfully via a trade deal.

In a report, The Inquisitr presented a possible three-team deal for Griffin to be in Portland. Aside from the Clippers, the Sacramento Kings are also included.

Griffin becoming a Trail Blazer can quickly have an impact in the Western Conference. The Blazers have the talent and what they need now is just another guy who will aid Lillard in carrying the team and he fits the bill.

With Griffin in the squad, the Blazers will have their own version of the Big Three as he will be joined by Lillard and Most Improved Player C.J. McCollum.

Portland's potential Big Three will then have a talent-stacked supporting cast that features the likes of Evan Turner, Al-Farouq Aminu, Festus Ezeli, Maurice Harkless and Mason Plumlee.

If this materializes, the Blazers are back to being a true powerhouse in the West. They are expected to surpass what they achieved in the previous seasons and give their opponents a run for their money.
