The much awaited specifications of Sony's upcoming virtual reality headset, dubbed as PlayStation VR and previously referred to as Project Morpheus, was recently showcased on the company's promo video for the headset.

Sony has officially released some of the specifications of their upcoming gadget PlayStation VR on their promotional video. According to the clip that was posted on YouTube last Nov. 4, fans can expect the headset to come with a 5.7-inch OLED display. Furthermore, in terms of resolution, the VR peripheral for the PlayStation console is said to sport in a 1,920 x RGB x 1,080 display resolution and has a 120Hz refresh rate with super low latency that is said to be under 18ms.

The PlayStation VR will come with 100-degree field of view (FOV) and will have an accelerometer & gyroscope features in it. Additionally, this headset will also have a positional, 360-degree head tracking system with 9 LEDs as well as a 3D Audio system with stereo mini jack and microphone input. Lastly, for its specifications, it was said on the video that the VR headset will also come with an HDMI and USB interface.

For the mentioned feature of the headset, it was announced on the video that, aside from the players, spectators that are not using the PlayStation VR can also partake in the experience by outputting the gameplay on a television set. But of course, it won't be as immersive as viewing the game on the gadget.

All the details revealed on the video are no doubt amazing, nonetheless. However, Sony is still keeping the release date of the headset a big secret and they did not mention anything other than it will become available first half of 2016. Moreover, there was no price reveal as well on the promotional clip of PlayStation VR.
