'Persona 5' release date update: Game might not see the light of day
Among the most-anticipated games this year is Atlus' fifth instalment for its "Persona" franchise. "Persona 5" has been in development for over five years already and fans are eager for the title's release.
Early last year, Atlus shared its "Persona 5" progress, according to Gematsu, Director Katsura Hashino said:
"It's been a massive outpouring and we're really happy to see people are into it as much as they are. It's a huge relief to all of us on the team to have things turn out that way. Still, it's also indicative that the anticipation is running really high among people who have enjoyed our work up until now, so it's not without some pressure coming our way, too."
Despite the anticipation among "Persona" fans, the title was pushed back. According to Trusted Reviews, the title is set to launch in Japan this summer. There is no release date for other territories yet, but it's confirmed that "Persona 5" will also arrive in the West this year.
Meanwhile, according to Yibada, a Reddit user claims that "Persona 5" would be available in May. However, Atlus has not confirmed it yet. Thus, "Persona" fans should still take this with a grain of salt.
On a separate note, N4BB reported that "Persona 5" might not come out until the last week of July. Also, there are rumors that the title might not be available in North America and Europe this year because the localized version of the Japanese game takes seven months to be ready following its Japan launch.
So, "Personal 5's" release date remains in the dark. The overall impact is mixed, since it is still not clear whether fans and gamers have a game or not. Rest assured that this game is too big to fail, and the developers are probably working double time to make this happen. Fans of the franchise, be optimistic and not a pessimist.
