As the reckoning day draws near in the "Penny Dreadful" territory, the official trailer, which has recently been released, reveals that Ethan will finally reunite with Vanessa.

In the new trailer, Ethan (Josh Hartnett) will once again embark on a journey of perils and trials to Africa but he will finally be reunited with Vanessa (Eva Green), as fans predicted earlier. Some sequences hint that his trip to Africa will be filled with unexpected travails courtesy of his enemies.

Earlier this year, it was rumored that Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) will be an ally to Ethan, though it has yet to be revealed if their alliance will be formed before or after Ethan's trip to Africa.

In previous teasers, it was revealed that Vanessa is trying to fend off her own demons, while Lily (Billie Piper) and Dorian (Reeve Carney) seem to be forming their own army for the big day to come in season 3.

Aside from the most-awaited reunion between Ethan and Vanessa, segments from the trailer also tease that the former will transform for a yet-to-be-revealed battle. In the first seconds of the clip, Ethan looks nervous as he stares into the full and white moon. Other cast members also seem to be having their own issues with blood, knives, and killings.

By the middle of the teaser, battles and bloodshed are imminent, giving fans a first look at the troubles that will come in the way of the dreadful heroes.

Lily seems to be enjoying her parties, with some probably unknowing that she is getting people together to form an indomitable army. With the new trailer out, it's getting clearer that Lilly and Dorian have the upper hand as Ethan and Sir Malcolm will need to put more effort in recruiting their team members.

It was revealed earlier that Patti LuPone, whose performance as the Cut-Wife in "American Horror Story" was widely acclaimed, will join the cast as a regular. LuPone will play the role of Dr. Seward, and it turns out she will use her own alternative methods to treat Vanessa's frantic soul.

"Penny Dreadful" season 3 will premiere on Sunday, May 1 at 10 p.m. EST on Showtime.
