'Overwatch' news, updates: Game continues improvement with new map and PTR
"Overwatch" is arguably one of the most successful games of 2016, and is one of the gems on Blizzard Entertainment's crown. This 2017, it doesn't show any signs of stagnation and continues to push forward with new maps and patches to improve the game.
A new map, dubbed as the Oasis, has been revealed earlier this week. It is described to be situated in the Arabian Desert and features three different control points. Being as advanced as it is, players will also need to dodge vehicles while trying to secure their dominance over the new environment.
The description says, "Researchers and academics from around the region came together to found a city dedicated to scientific progress without restraints — a monument to human ingenuity and invention. The city and its inhabitants are governed by the Ministries, a collection of brilliant minds who possess many secrets that have attracted the interest of powerful organizations from around the world."
This isn't the only improvement created by Blizzard for the title. A new patch is currently in development, thus interested players are invited to participate in a Public Test Region that is available for Windows PC players.
The patch is expected to make necessary tweaks to various elements of the game, particularly on the Emote Wheel, user interface, and bug fixes. Certain improvements will also be seen on heroes such as Ana, D. Va, Roadhog, and Sombra.
The said PTR aims to ensure that the upcoming patch will be working perfectly prior to its official release on PC platforms. Participants in the said process can report here, should they encounter any bugs while playing with the patch in effect.
A future patch will also be made available for console versions, specifically for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One shortly after updates for the PC are finished.
With continuous improvements underway, it is no surprise that "Overwatch" is one of the most-loved games today.
