'Outlander' season 3 spoilers, news: Caitriona Balfe talks Claire and Jamie reunion; series to deviate from book
Filming is currently underway for "Outlander" season 3. The Starz series has yet to announce a premiere date for the upcoming season, but fans will be delighted to know that Claire and Jamie will finally reunite on set, as Caitriona Balfe reveals that she is set to shoot scenes with Sam Heughan from now until the end of filming.
Balfe, who plays Claire in the series, spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the upcoming season and the filming schedule that they had to adopt.
"We've shot a little out of order, so Sam and I have shot one episode together," the actress revealed. "So Sam and I will be on set together as we go forward. We've mostly shot the first stuff up front, but we had to pull one episode forward because of different actors' schedules, so yeah. We've done a little bit together."
Additionally, Balfe teased at what was happening in the photo that was released earlier this year. The photo sees Balfe's Claire walking through a battlefield with corpses laying around. As Balfe explained, the scene is "an image that Jamie has conjured up in his head."
Balfe also admitted that it was more difficult to shoot the third season due to the time lapse. "How do you tell the story of a relationship and of a life and of a woman over her 20 years in the space of a few scenes? So that had its own unique challenges," she pointed out.
Heughan, while speaking to Popsugar, also revealed that there will be a few surprises in store for fans when the series returns. Season 3 will have noticeable differences from the book, but that's what makes the series so exciting.
New characters will also be introduced in the upcoming season. As previously reported, César Domboy and Lauren Lyle have been cast as Fergus and Marsali, respectively.
"Outlander" season 3 is set to premiere in 2017.
