'Outlander' season 3 spoilers, cast: Actors John Bell and Wil Johnson play pivotal roles
Two more talented actors are set to join the cast of "Outlander" season 3 and they are actors John Bell and Wil Johnson. Bell will play the young Ian Murray and Johnson will play Joe Abernathy.
Ian is said to be a tall, gangly Scottish kid with a heart of gold, a stubborn streak, and a penchant for getting into trouble, according to Entertainment Weekly. He is the son of Jamie Fraser's (Sam Heughan) sister, Jenny (Laura Donnelly), and Ian (Steven Cree). He is said to be more adventurous like his Uncle Jamie, than his father who is a farmer.
Joe, on the other hand, is Claire Fraser's (Caitriona Balfe) fellow medical intern who she becomes good friends with. He is intelligent, charismatic, with wry and irreverent sense of humor. Furthermore, he is loyal and affectionate toward her. She is Claire's confidante.
E! Online notes that the two will not be seen in the same scene because of the different timelines they live in. Ian will be seen with Jamie during the 18th century, while Joe will meet Claire in the 20th century in Boston.
Ian will first be seen as an awkward boy who eventually grows to be a formidable man as the series progresses. Joe and Claire's connection will stem from a common feeling of not belonging to the field they ventured in. Their struggle to belong will lead them closer and their friendship will be one that stands the test of time.
Production for season 3 has already begun, and viewers are excited to see the reunion of Sam and Claire. It would also be the first time Sam meets their daughter who viewers have seen in the previous season's finale.
"Outlander" season 3 will premiere in 2017 on Starz, but the exact date will still be announced.
