Fans of "New Girl" will witness a family reunion in the upcoming episode 12, titled "D-Day," of the fifth season of the comedy sitcom.

According to the synopsis from The Futon Critic, Jess decides to help Schmidt in preparing for his and Cece's wedding because Cece gets a promising job offer. The wedding preparations, however, might not go as planned when Gavin, Schmidt's father, visits the couple. Winston and Nick, on the other hand, are betting on who among the two of them has a harder job.

Peter Gallagher will return to the show to play as Schmidt's father. This was already confirmed in an interview with TV Line early this month. In the same interview, actor Max Greenfield, who plays Winston, teased that Schmidt's bachelor party will involve the desert and motorcycles. Cece also revealed that her bachelorette bash may have "some criminal activity." As for Schmidt and Cece's wedding, "New Girl" creator Elizabeth Meriwether assured fans that the two characters will really walk down the aisle.

Meanwhile, here is the recap of the previous episode, titled "The Apartment."

Cece finally decided to move out of her apartment and move in to Jesse's left so she and her fiancé Schmidt can live together. So, Jesse tried her best to help Cece. However, she was not especially in a good situation since her school's new principal, Cavatappi (Elizabeth Berkley), asked her to do something urgent. Apparently, Jesse had to submit the school budget by the next day. When Cavatappi called Jesse, Cece picked it up and told the principal that Jesse is quitting her job.

Meanwhile, Winston, who now works as a police, requested the office to partner him with another officer because he is sick with Ali talking about her hot boyfriend. He was partnered with Dunston and they successfully tackled a flasher at Nick's bar.

Schimdt, on the other hand, helped out Cece pack up and move out. He comforted her by saying that marriage is going to be scary, but as a couple, they have to be "scared together."
