'NCIS' season 13 trailer shows Gibbs with his daughter; DiNozzo closes in on The Calling's leader
"NCIS" will return for a thirteenth season in about four weeks and fans are hoping that Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) will survive being shot by Luke, the young boy he was trying to save from The Calling.
However, it seems Gibbs is in dire straits based on a short clip released by CBS. The trailer for the premiere episode, titled "Stop the Bleeding," starts with a flashback of season 12's finale and Abby rushing to McGee asking if it's true that Gibbs has been shot. But what worries fans is the scene where Gibb's daughter, Kelly, tells him "I'm right here, Daddy" before leading him to a brightly lit door, followed by a scene of a nurse stating that he's crashing.

According to "NCIS" showrunner, Gary Glasberg, the upcoming season will pick up right where they left off. Immediately after being shot, Gibbs is rushed to surgery on an aircraft carrier where we see "Two and a Half Men's" Jon Cryer scrubbed up and ready to begin operation.
Cryer is guest starring as Dr. Cyril Taft, a hotshot Navy surgeon who now has the "NCIS'" leader's life in his hands. It's an important role and one that the 50-year-old actor is taking seriously, especially since he has wanted to be in the show for some time now.
But even if Gibbs does pull through, things won't be the same at "NCIS" anymore. As Glasberg pointed out, the normally steady "NCIS" stalwart has just experienced a life-changing trauma.
"Really, the whole first half of the [premiere] is this emotional roller coaster ride, of Gibbs' surgery," he revealed.
It's not just Gibbs who's in a crucial and dangerous state. The teaser trailer also had shots of DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and CIA agent Joanna Teague (Mimi Rogers) in Shanghai, hot on the trail of The Calling's leader. The clip ended with a bomb counting down and DiNozzo looking extremely worried.
"NCIS" fans would have to wait until Sept. 22 to learn about Gibbs' fate and whether the rest of the team were able to stop the nefarious group, The Calling, from pushing through with its plans.
