Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date rumors: hybrid won't launch this year? 2017 release possible
Rumors about the imminent release of Microsoft Surface Pro 5 are getting stronger and tech aficionados believe that discounts applied on the current and previous hybrid devices, Surface Pro 4 and Surface Pro 3, have something to do with it.
The price reduction on these devices led many to believe that the upcoming model's unveiling could happen anytime soon. The Surface Pro 4 was released in October last year and it's likely that Microsoft will also introduce the Surface Pro 5 in the same month.
On the other hand, there are also reports suggesting that Surface Pro 5's release won't happen anytime soon. According to Neurogadget, the price reduction was done to increase the sales of the Surface Pro 4. In that case, Surface Pro 5 is likely to make its way to the market by 2017.
Another reason why Surface Pro 5 is rumored to have a 2017 release date is because it will reportedly run on a superior Kaby Lake processor from Intel, but this processor won't be available until next year.
Whether or not the new device will be released late this year or early next year, tech enthusiasts should keep in mind that Microsoft hasn't announced anything concrete just yet.
Meanwhile, Surface Pro 5 is expected to feature a 4K Ultra HD screen display with a resolution of 3840 pixels in width – a major improvement from the 2736 x 1824 resolution of the Surface Pro 4.
It is also expected that the new Surface Pro will have an improved stylus. Surface Pro 4 already had an impressive accessory that is the Surface Pen. It has a stylish design and it performs efficiently. Speculations are rife that Microsoft will release Surface Pro 5 with an improved Surface Pen, in a way that it is rechargeable and has its own dock.
As always, it's best to take unconfirmed reports with a pinch of salt. Fans should wait for more updates.
