'Man of Steel 2' movie news: Superman to face off with Brainiac and Bizarro
After numerous rumors, it is finally confirmed that Henry Cavill is flying back as Superman for "Man of Steel 2." While the release date of the said sequel to the 2013 blockbuster remains unknown at this point in time, though, there are already speculations claiming that the movie will feature Bizarro and Brainiac as the possible opponents of the Man of Steel.
According to reports, no less than Cavill's rep, Dany Garcia, confirmed that the actor is starring in another solo Superman movie in addition to his participation in "Justice League" parts 1 and 2, which are slated to arrive in theaters on Nov. 17, 2017 and June 14, 2019, respectively. Although Warner Bros. has not confirmed the showing date for "Man of Steel 2," it is suspected to arrive between 2018 and 2019 as the studio has booked two showing dates for the said years without naming what movies it will offer.
While it's true that "Man of Steel 2" is not expected to arrive anytime soon, there are already numerous speculations on who Superman's opponent might be in the movie. However, the rumor claiming that Brainiac will be the main big bad in "Man of Steel 2" is the loudest.
According to Cosmic Book, Superman will clash with Brainiac twice in the movie: in space and on Earth. It is said that Superman will first battle with Brainiac in his spaceship, and it is there where he will meet his cousin, Supergirl, who is being held captive by the villain.
It is also said that Bizarro, the zombie-looking Superman created by Lex Luthor, will also be part of the movie and cause the Man of Steel more troubles.
If rumors are correct, "Man of Steel 2" will feature a good array of familiar DC characters as it is also said that Martian Manhunter will also be featured in the movie. In fact, it is claimed that it will be the green-skinned DC superhero who will chase Brainiac to Earth, where Superman will battle him once more, this time, with the help of the Justice League.
While there is no denying that "Man of Steel 2" will be nothing short of exciting, thanks to its good lineup of DC characters, everything at this point in time is nothing but unconfirmed pieces of information and can only be validated when the movie arrives in theaters.
