'Man of Steel 2' rumors: Darkseid will be the main villain?
While the script for "Man of Steel 2" is not done yet, rumors claiming that the upcoming sequel to the 2013 hit top-billed by Henry Cavill will feature Darkseid as the main villain recently circulated online.
According to the latest reports, the script for "Man of Steel 2" is underway as confirmed by Amy Adams herself some months ago. While the status of the script remains unknown at this point in time, rumors claiming that it will feature Darkseid as the main villain have recently surfaced online.
Speculations on Darkseid being the big bad in "Man of Steel 2" is said to have already been hinted by last year's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," as the villain's arrival was already teased in the movie then. Additionally, as the upcoming "Justice League" movie will feature Darkseid's uncle, Steppenwolf (Ciaran Hinds), some suspect that it will not take long before Superman (Cavill) and Darkseid will face each other in a live-action movie, "Man of Steel 2."
Earlier reports claimed, though, that it is likely for "Man of Steel 2" to feature Brainiac as the movie's main villain. After all, in the comic book version of Superman, Brainiac is often tied with the Kryptonians and even shrunk the Kryptonian city of Kandor and made it a part of his collection in his spaceship.
Not so long ago, it was also speculated that Superman may engage in a showdown of force with Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) as Cavill posted on his Instagram account last Christmas a photo of him and Johnson and captioned it with, "Today we drink like gentleman and come together as friends. We're excited for what the future brings."
As the said Instagram post came with the hashtags "DangerousGentleman" "DCWorldsWillCollide" and "Superman," many have jumped into the conclusion that Johnson's Black Adam character will be pitted against Cavill's Superman.
DC and Warner Bros. have yet to announce the release date of "Man of Steel 2," although the movie is suspected to arrive between 2019 and 2020.
