MacBook Pro, Air 2016 release dates: Air to launch before Pro?
The upcoming MacBook Pro and Air 2016 have been getting a lot of attention lately, especially regarding the two laptops' release dates. Currently, rumor has it that the latest MacBook Air will arrive earlier than the Pro.
Although Apple has not yet released an official statement or release dates for the two upcoming devices, it is widely believed in the tech industry that the MacBook Air will find its way to the public market before the MacBook Pro. Both devices, however, are said to be launching sometime in the fourth quarter of this year, most likely during the fall.
As for the specifications and features that will come on board the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, nothing solid has been confirmed since Apple is keeping a fairly tight lid on the details. It is rumored that the MacBook Pro will not come with a headphone jack anymore, which is also a highly rumored feature on the upcoming version of the iPad.
But perhaps the most exciting feature that will reportedly come with the new MacBook Pro is an OLED bar that will be placed above the keyboard. This bar is going to have touchscreen capabilities and will allow users quick access to applications and various controls. The integration of this new feature is designed to improve user experience and security, which are two things Apple is putting great focus on.
Additionally, it has been said that the new MacBook Pro will come with a SkyLake processor and retina display. The MacBook Air is also rumored to come with a retina display. Both lineups are expected to have AMD's Radeon RX 400 series graphics cards.
In the interest of security, reports also claim that the two upcoming devices will have a new unlocking feature wherein users may acquire access to their laptops via Touch ID of an iPhone.
Since the release of both devices are expected to take place later in the year, prices for the previous iterations of both lineups have gone down.
