'Left 4 Dead 3' release date, update: Will the upcoming game be a prequel instead?
The third installment of the "Left 4 Dead" franchise may feature four brand new playable characters. There is also a possibility that "Left 4 Dead 3" may be a prequel instead of a sequel. In the meantime, there are also speculations that it may have six campaigns that players can experience.
According to Digital Spy, there are leaks circulating the internet that give some details for the upcoming sequel. Some of these rumors talk about four new playable characters who will take the spotlight in the video game. The group of protagonists will be composed of three men and a woman. The female character is named Katherine and she is a 24-year-old Caucasian. Meanwhile, the three male characters are an African-American gangster named Irvin; Garrett Jr., who is a Kenpo fighter; and a comic book nerd named Keenan.
There are speculations that "Left 4 Dead 3" will be a prequel and it is set just one month after the zombie apocalypse has started. It's also likely that the game takes place before the events of "Left 4 Dead 2" have occurred.
Furthermore, there are rumors saying the upcoming video game will feature six campaigns and they are called Cliff Hanger, Crashland, Impasse, Inquisitor Land, Early Destination and No Mercy. In terms of game mechanics, there might be a backpack system included which changes the title's strategy since the characters are only able to equip certain items.
However, the developer of the game, Valve, has not released any official details yet about its upcoming title. The company has also not revealed any new information about their "Half Life 3" video game. According to reports, one of the reasons why rumors about "Left 4 Dead 3" have been surfacing is due to a Valve artist named Tristan Reidford. While he was giving a tutorial about the title's Destination Workshop Tools, it was seen that one of his folders was labeled "left4dead3." This led to a lot of speculations about the sequel.
There is no exact release date yet for "Left 4 Dead 3," but it is anticipated to be launched in 2017. There are also plans to release it for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.
