Fans still hoping for that Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole album to still be made should not get their hopes up as recent reports show that the two have time for projects other than their long-awaited collaboration.

Hip hop enthusiasts received a little taste of the "To Pimp a Butterfly" artist's stylings in Sia's new song, "The Greatest." The song reportedly pays homage to the Orlando nightclub shooting in June, with Lamar dropping lines like "letdowns will get you, and the critics will test you/ But the strong will survive; another scar will bless you." However, his thought-provoking and inspirational verses were surprisingly not featured in the song's music video.

Reports also surfaced that Lamar will also be appearing in a track on Mac Miller's upcoming album, "The Divine Feminine," which is said to be dropping on Sept. 16. The rapper also has shows scheduled at the end of September and early October.

Meanwhile, J. Cole, who has been described by Dreamville President Ibrahim Hamad as "a mad scientist with his thing," is also said to be busy with a rumored fourth album and numerous concerts around the country.

Two of the 31-year-old rapper's singles had been certified platinum recently. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Cole's "Crooked Smile" and "Can't Get Enough" are now certified platinum singles, giving him a total of six platinum hits.

The rapper has also been busy performing at the Washington State Fair and is also set to perform at the Life Is Beautiful Festival from Sept. 23 to 26 and will also be headlining the AAHH! Festival on Sept. 24 and 25. He will be performing wiith other artists like The Roots, Common, Jeremih, Sir The Baptist, and Taylor Bennett.

With both artists working on such full schedules, it's no wonder that the much-hyped collaboration album between Lamar and Cole still remains elusive. However, the two artists (or at least their management) continue to tease that the joint project is still on. As it is, the question is not whether it will happen but when the album will happen.
