With the iPhone 7 set to arrive on schedule in September of this year, there are indications that Apple is going to buck the trend it has followed over the years and not include any major updates to the design. Rumors, however, indicate that the big design changes will be kept for the iPhone 8 or for next year's iPhone 7s.

Reporting on the arrival of the iPhone 7, Fortune states that a recent analyst note released by Mark Moskowitz, who works for Barclays, indicates that the device will not have any "major design changes;" instead, the device is set to follow the design of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus lineup.

The analyst further suggests that the changes on the iPhone 7 will consist of a few "tweaks." Among these changes will be a rumored removal of the headphone jack and it being replaced with headphones that will be paired via the Lightning port and also charge via it. These limited changes will importantly make this year's iPhone 7 less popular, and many will feel that they do not need to buy it.

Earlier rumors pointed toward the iPhone 7s coming with a major design change and possibly have a glass body. This design change will make the iPhone 7s similar to earlier iPhones that released from Apple, and many industry analysts expect that the glass build will allow it to be charged wirelessly.

Other rumors about the upcoming iPhone 7 indicate that a Qualcomm modem will not be used on it. Bloomberg states that Apple is considering using a modem from Intel. This switch, if it goes ahead, will cause Qualcomm to lose a lot of business, and when this particular report emerged, it resulted in the stock of the company falling. However, it is also likely that Apple will contract a number of suppliers to provide it with the modem chip and this will be beneficial to the company in the long run.
