iPad Air 3 specs: Apple tipped to release tablet early 2016 but no 3D Touch
Even though Apple has not officially announced any plans to produce an iPad Air 3, rumors have been spreading like wildfire that the device has been pushed to next year. Recently, however, rumors have concentrated on what features could appear on the device when it lands, and whether or not it will have 3D Touch onboard.
Commenting on the latest rumors about the iPad Air 3, Apple Insider describes how 3D Touch, which arrived on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus this year, will not be seen on the iPad Air 3 when it is released. This is reportedly because the technology, which senses the amount of pressure being applied to the screen, cannot be successfully applied to the bigger screen on the iPad.
However, the rumor about 3D Touch technology also indicates that Apple is developing something similar, which can be applied to the screen of bigger tablets such as iPad Air and even the iPad Pro.
The Apple Watch and the trackpad of the MacBook have Force Touch, which senses that amount of pressure with the aid of sensors placed along the edges. However, 3D Touch can sense the pressure that is applied to all portions of the screen.
As for the other rumors about the iPad Air 3, they point toward the device arriving in the early part of 2016. IT Pro states that it could have an 8-megapixel main camera at the rear and a 5-megapixel version in front. As for the price of the tablet, it is believed that the device could cost around $610.
Apple only refreshed the mini lineup this year with the iPad mini 4 and then concentrated on the iPad Pro, which is its biggest tablet so far. Many industry experts reasoned that Apple wanted to keep the consumers' attention focused on the iPad Pro, and an iPad Air 3 would have been too much of a distraction.
