'Hunter X Hunter' chapter 361 updates, spoilers: Hiatus could last for 20 months
"Hunter X Hunter" fans know by now that chapter 361's release has been put on an indefinite hold due to creator Yoshihiro Togashi's health condition. An official return date has not been announced, but rumor has it that it will be as long as 20 months.
According to reports, 20 months was the amount of time it took for Togashi to resume work on the Japanese manga after suffering the same fate in the past. It can be remembered that "Hunter X Hunter" previously took a similar hiatus due to Togashi's lower back pain. It was only recently, in April, that the manga series returned. But it didn't take long before his condition resurfaced.
Reports also reveal that fans are hoping that the break will be shorter this time around. Many are praying for Togashi's health to improve so that he can go back to working on the next chapters. After all, "Hunter X Hunter" is a very exciting series.
On the other hand, it has been said that new writers have been hired to continue Togashi's work in the wake of his medical condition. Togashi is believed to be acting in a supervisory or consultancy role. However, rumor has it that the collaboration is not exactly working out. Replacing an experienced writer and artist like Togashi is no easy feat and it seems as though the creator is not too keen on where his work is leading.
Because of this, it is speculated that the showrunners will just opt to leave the work to Togashi once he recovers. Quality is something they are not willing to sacrifice, after all. But this also means that fans will be forced to wait until the creator fully heals.
The manga's publisher confirmed that Togashi's lower back issue is the reason for the delay, but they failed to give out a return date.
