Huawei smartwatch for women may opt for slimmer profile; watch rumored to be announced at CES 2016

(Huawei)Huawei smartwatch for women could look similar to this year's offering

With the Consumer Electronics Show due to take place in January of next year, all eyes are focused on the smartphones and smartwatches that could be announced. Now, a rumor has indicated that Chinese manufacturer Huawei has plans to announce at least one new smartwatch as CES kicks off.

If the rumor is true, then Huawei is looking to build on the popularity of its smartwatch, which was launched during MWC last year and was subsequently released in September. Reporting on the arrival of the women's version of the Huawei Watch, 9to5Google states that it might not look much different from the main line when it launches at the CES.

However, the Huawei watch for women is expected to have a smaller and possibly thinner case. The current case on the Huawei Watch is round and reports have it that Huawei will follow the idea adopted by the Moto 360 2. There are also expectations that the women's version will have thinner bands. Additionally, the bands and the round case could be more elegant than the versions used on the Huawei Watch.

The Huawei Watch is already being considered by many as one of the best looking smartwatches released this year. Several reviewers have also lauded its pretty watch faces and round case with great detailing. If this rumor is taken into account, then it is likely that Huawei will be planning to improve upon the features of the smartwatch for women and even create new watch faces for the device.

As for the second edition of the Huawei Watch, it is expected to launch in the second half of 2016. This could mean that the Chinese manufacturer is planning to release the device during IFA in Berlin. However, the device could be announced a lot earlier, as the Huawei Watch was actually announced during MWC in Barcelona this year and then released later during IFA. Finally, Huawei might reportedly ensure that the device comes with cellular support, which will mean that it will have a SIM slot onboard.
