'Grimm' season 6 updates: Nick to become vicious and unhinged; will the Grimm return to Portland PD?

(Facebook/NBCGrimm)A more aggressive, vicious, and unhinged Nick is set to appear in season 6.

It's a darker and more vicious Nick Burkhardt who will be residing in Portland when "Grimm" returns for a sixth, and reportedly final, season.

It's been said that season 6 will be the "Grimm's" final season. However, the show appears to have no plans of stopping the momentum it generated in last season's finale, which saw the Grimm going up against dozens of Black Claw thugs and overcoming them all. The episode ended in a big shocker, though, when Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz) ran a sword through Bonaparte as he was about to kill Nick (David Giuntoli).

Season 6 will be picking up at that exact moment, with Nick and his former ally facing off against each other. Whether the two will clash immediately or will regroup is still unknown. But if the two do duke it out again, Portland's new mayor will be going up against a very vicious Grimm.

Despite being a Grimm, Nick has always kept his powers reined in, preferring to do things in a lawful way. But it seems all bets are off for the detective now that his son Kelly was taken from him by Black Claw.

Giuntoli was a panelist at the recent Armageddon Expo in New Zealand and he revealed that his character "is going to be very vicious in season 6." As the actor sagely pointed out, Nick had different phases where he was super powered, but these abilities tapered off as the episodes went on. However, it seems that the showrunners want something different for season 6.

"I think they want to take Nick to — I don't know about superpowers — but I know they want to turn him into a fierce, aggressive, kind of unhinged character, so that will be really fun to play for me," Giuntoli said.

An aggressive, hard to control Nick is definitely something that a lot of "Grimm" fans would want to see. After all, Nick's adherence to the law didn't work so well in his favor last season. And with his son, Adalind (Claire Coffee), and the rest of his friends in danger, it might be time for him to let go of being a detective and really embrace his Grimm heritage. Plus, with the fight he and Renard had at the police station, who's to say that Portland will still be keeping Nick in the force.

"Grimm" season 5 will return to NBC in the fall.
