'Grand Theft Auto 6' release date news, gameplay rumors: Game to introduce new characters, drones, and VR support
New features are coming to "Grand Theft Auto 6," if reports are to be believed. However, since its release is speculated not to land until 2020, fans of the franchise will have to wait for the new drones and characters that are said to be included in the game.
Rockstar Games' "Grand Theft Auto" franchise is arguably one of the biggest game series out today. Earning millions in revenue and a slew of loyal fans along the way, its highly rumored sixth installment is something worth looking forward to. However, it doesn't seem like the game will come out any time soon, as Rockstar has another upcoming title to work on and promote — "Red Dead Redemption 2."
With "Red Dead Redemption 2" set to drop in the fall later this year, there has been talk that "Grand Theft Auto 6" may have been put on the back burner and may not see the light of day until 2020. However, fans are also anxiously waiting for the cowboy-themed sequel to "Red Dead Redemption," especially since the first game was released all the way back in 2010.
But what are the new features coming to the yet-to-be announced title? According to Neurogadget, there are going to be new playable characters, weapons, vehicles, and drones to choose from. It has also been speculated that a female lead character, voiced by Eva Mendes, will be introduced in the game.
Apart from that, rumor has it that the forthcoming game may offer virtual reality support. With the release of various VR consoles like the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and the PlayStation VR — to name a few — it is becoming increasingly evident that virtual reality is a game format of the future.
Even though "Grand Theft Auto 6" is still a long way off, it is expected that Rockstar Games will officially announce the title this year at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).
