Golden State Warriors trade rumors 2016: Luke Walton in no rush for head coaching break

Luke Walton, son of NBA Hall of Famer Bill Walton, made news at the start of the 2015-16 NBA season when he was credited with the 39-4 record with regular head coach Steve Kerr indisposed.

The feat caught the attention of many teams, surprised at how Walton was able to handle a team who had just come from an NBA title.

And knowing that Luke was working on an interim basis, other teams have now been linked to possibly considering him. Much of that will likely go down in the summer.

But the question now is if Walton will bite. His father had previously sounded off that he should stay at the Bay Area before making that big leap. Many felt it was a huge risk for Walton, calling to mind the gamble that Alvin Gentry took when he joined the New Orleans Hornets.

Everyone knows that Gentry didn't exactly turn out well, though handling an injury-riddled team had a hand in it. Could this make Luke think twice?

One thing that people may have overlooked is that Walton was still carrying out Kerr's orders. In essence, Walton was physically present but Kerr was still the brains behind the success.

However,  there is a thing such as executing properly the instructions which Walton made. Coaching in an actual game is different from giving instructions unless Walton had a phone or radio by his side the whole time.

In all, Walton deserves some credit even if some feel that it was all Kerr. But for now, Walton doesn't seem to have any reason to leave the "Dubs," knowing that they have something special going.

The Warriors don't want him to go, meaning, if ever other teams like the Phoenix Suns or even the Los Angeles Lakers try to get him, the final decision on that will solely be his call.
