Another week and a new metal-bodied smartphone has arrived in the market from a Chinese manufacturer. This time around, it arrived in the form of the Gionee S6 Pro and it was released to refresh the Gionee S6, which arrived last year as part of the company's "S" series.

As soon as the Gionee S6 Pro was noted by websites on the manufacturer's social media sites in China, it was picked up and reported on. Most importantly, the Chinese manufacturer released the Gionee S6 last year in November, and this year, it appears the company wanted a better quality device. This led to the chipset and the display being upgraded on the Gionee S6 Pro.

According to the listing for the Gionee S6 Pro on the Chinese language social media site, the device has a 5.5-inch IPS display with a 2.5D curve and it has a resolution of 1080p. This is an improvement upon the 720p display which was on the Gionee S6. Coming to the chipset on the Gionee S6 Pro, it is a MediaTek Helio P10 version and it is coupled with a Cortex-A53 processor with eight cores. As for the graphics processing unit (GPU), it is a Mali-T860MP2 version and RAM is pegged at 4GB. The design of the device is also pretty good as it has a metal body and it comes with a fingerprint scanner incorporated into the home button which can unlock the device within 0.01 seconds.

The camera on the device is a 13-megapixel version on the rear, while the front-facing one for selfies is an 8-megapixel version. More importantly, the device has a USB Type-C port and also extra storage can be tacked on. However, this extra storage needs to be tacked on using one of the SIM slots and if this is done, two SIM cards cannot be used on the device. Finally, there is no word if the Gionee S6 Pro will be available in international locations as it is first going to launch in China. It will be arriving with three colors: rose gold, gold and silver, and will have a price tag of $300.
