Since Nov. 30, Gionee has been urging its Facebook followers to find their "Colorful Life." After a week of teasers, Gionee finally unveiled the P5w smartphone – a colorful budget smartphone.

Gionee has been aggressively releasing several new smartphones this past year. It seems that the Chinese smartphone manufacturer aims to release devices that suit the many and differing needs of the consumers. The recently introduced P5W smartphone will be suited for individuals looking for a device that will inject some color and fun into their daily lives.

The Gionee P5W features a 5-inch HD IPS Oncell display with a 720 x 1280 screen resolution. The device comes with a polycarbonate body and is offered in five lively shades – white, blue, red, yellow and black. For dimensions, it is 8.9 mm thick and weighs 153 grams.

The budget smartphone is powered by an octa-core 1.3 GHz MediaTek MT6735 processor and 1 GB of RAM. There is also 16 GB of internal storage. It is equipped with a 5 MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash. For selfies and video calls, there is a 2 MP front-facing camera.

The Gionee P5W runs the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with the Immersive IU on top. The Immersive IU will give each colorful cover its matching interface.

The smartphone has dual-SIM with dual standby capability. There is also 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS connectivity. The device is backed by a 2,000 mAh battery.

The Gionee P5W also comes with some interesting features. It is equipped with the 3D DTS surround sound technology that seeks to give users an audio-visual feast. There is also a Face Unlock feature that provides users with a new way to unlock their device. According to Gionee, the smartphone can wake up within a second.

The Gionee smartphone also comes with the Ami Lock Screen that introduces news and stories onto the lock screen. With this feature, there is always something new and interesting to discover.

The Gionee P5W is now featured on the the company's global website. However, pricing and availability have not yet been revealed. The latest announcements from Gionee can be found in their official Facebook page.
