'Gears of War 4' multiplayer open beta starts April 25; 'Gears of War: Ultimate Edition' players eligible for early access starting April 18
When "Gears of War 4" is released, there will be a greater focus on the game's multiplayer aspect. Thus, to prepare for the game's release, Microsoft and The Coalition will be launching "Gears of War 4" multiplayer beta this April. Feedback from beta will help shape the final outcome of the game's multiplayer experience.
Early access to the "Gears of War 4" beta will begin on April 18 and will end on the 24th. Players who have purchased "Gears of War: Ultimate Edition" on the Xbox One or the Windows PC will be eligible to receive tokens for early access. Those who have yet to purchase "Ultimate Edition" have until April 11 (11 p.m. PT) to do so if they want to be eligible for early access.
Then, the open beta commences on April 25 and will be available to all Xbox Live Gold members with the Xbox One console.
"Gears of War 4" takes place 25 years after "Gears of War 3." During the Versus multiplayer beta, players will be able to test out some of the game's new protagonists including JD, Kait, Del, Kait's mom, Reyna, and Oscar. JD is notable because he is the son of the previous games' protagonist Marcus Fenix.
According to Game Informer, there are at least three different factions that will be separated into humans versus monsters. While the total number of factions has not yet been confirmed, the factions include Swarm enemies, COG soldiers, and Outsiders.
To learn more about "Gears of War 4," there will be an "Out of the Shadows: Inside Gears of War Multiplayer with The Coalition" panel taking place on April 24 at the PAX EAST. The Coalition will be revealing more specific details and surprises about the game. Fans can also stream the event live on the game's official Twitch channel.
"Gears of War 4" will be released sometime during the third quarter of 2016. It will be available to play for the Xbox One. Stay tuned for more news and updates.
