'For Honor' release date, news: Ubisoft to launch 'simpler' swordfighting game in February
Lovers of swordplay games are in for a treat. Game developer Ubisoft will release its latest swordfighting game "For Honor" on Feb. 14. The game is claimed to be a simpler version of the "Chivalry: Medieval Warfare" title from Torn Banner Studios.
"For Honor" is a third-person swordfighting game in which players will combine speed, strategy and team play with instinctive close range combat abilities to defeat their enemies and gain territories in multiplayer mode. Players can choose three character factions when playing. The factions are the Emperor's Chosen warriors or the Samurais, the Warborn Clans fighters or the Vikings, and the Legions of Steel warriors or the Knights.
Among the characters in the game are the Samurai named Orochi, the Viking named Berserker and the Knight called the Conqueror.
Meanwhile, a review of the game in late 2016 claimed that it is a simplified version of the "Rock, Paper, Scissors" game as it mainly consists of changing between three weapon stances, namely, left, right, and up. There are, however, special attacks and guard breaks, and each character unlocks its special abilities as the players level up in the multiplayer mode. Such special abilities, however, are not available in one-on-one play.
The game can be played in both online single-player and multi-player modes. Players, however, should connect to Ubisoft's servers to play the game.
Also, Ubisoft has announced the game's minimum PC requirements to play the game smoothly. Among the minimum requirements are an Intel Core 13-550 or Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) Phenom II X4 955 processors or their equivalents, an NVIDIA GEForce (GTX660/GTX750ti/GTX950/GTX1050) or AMD Radeon (HD6970/HD7870/R9 270/R9 370/RX460) graphic cards with a minimum of 2 GB of video random access memory (VRAM), and at least 4 GB of system RAM.
The game also requires 64-bit versions of Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 operating systems (OS).
The game will be released in the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
