Since it was first announced, the newest "Final Fantasy XIV" downloadable content finally gets a release date and it is slated for June 2017.

During the recently concluded "Final Fantasy XIV" fan festival in Tokyo, game developer Square Enix announced that the "Stormblood" expansion will go live next year. As reiterated in the game's official Twitter page: "The FINAL FANTASY XIV: Stormblood expansion pack is scheduled to launch on June 20, 2017!"

Reports are now rife sharing the details of the upcoming game expansion. It is reportedly set in a fictional place called Ala Mhigo where players will have to battle adversaries called the Zenos.

Developers assure the players that "Stormblood" is going to be a "full standalone game's worth of content." The upcoming "Final Fantasy XIV" expansion is set to add new areas and other content.

It can be recalled that when the expansion game was announced last October, game director Naoki Yoshida teased, "The main concept is getting Ala Mhigo back into Eorzean control from the Garlean empire."

According to iDigitalTimes, Square Enix will release a Collector's Edition of the "Stormblood" expansion that will contain an exclusive Zenos action figure, a special package with an original art by Yoshitaka Amano, a cloth map of Eorzea and many more.

In the same report, for "Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood," Square Enix has recruited veteran creators familiar to the franchise. "Final Fantasy" music composer Nobuo Uematsu writes the music theme for the expansion while character designer Keita Amemiya creates the DLC's enemy bosses.

The "Stormblood" expansion will also introduce two new high-end raids called "The Bend of Time -- Omega" and "Return to Ivalice." In the first new raid, eight players will be going up against a new version of Omega Weapon. In "Return to Ivalice," up to 24 players will be involved in the raid.
