A novella-movie series about fast cars and crime is coming to the Big Apple in spring 2017.

Vin Diesel just revealed details through a post on his Instagram account. Fans now know that the next installment of the "Fast & Furious" trilogy will be titled "Fast 8," and it will hit theaters in April 2017. His Instagram photo is the first official poster of the upcoming movie, which shows the skyline of New York City.

Although an official plot synopsis is yet to be released, Diesel's photo does confirm previous rumors that parts of the eighth installment of the franchise will take place in New York City. Previous talks also sprawled around that the film production has plans to shoot in Cuba, Variety learned earlier this month. However, their insider cautioned that the filmmakers are still exploring the country for possible story-setting locations.

A spokeswoman for the studio clarified to the publication, "Universal Pictures is currently in the process of seeking approval from the United States and Cuban governments to explore shooting a portion of the next installment of the 'Fast & Furious' series in Cuba."

No Hollywood film as big as "Fast & Furious" has ever dared to get the exotic atmosphere of Cuba as a backdrop to their stories.

"Cuba is a land that many know about, but few have seen. These productions are hoping to capitalize on the increased interest in Cuba," said John Kavulich, senior policy adviser to the U.S.-Cuba Trade and Economic Council.

To prevent fans getting bored of the same formula they have seen in previous installments, Diesel, who is both a lead actor and producer for the franchise, reassured that "Fast 8" will be different.

Back in November, he told Variety that the team behind the film is developing prequels and spin-offs. "We've written out story lines for various characters... It's a very rich property and we're committed to treating it with a lot of class," he revealed.
