U.S. religious leaders and academics from mainline protestant denominations and the Catholic Church will meet in Oklahoma City this month with a special focus on the 50th Anniversary of the Second Vatican Council, which had a significant impact for ecumenism.

The National Workshop on Christian Unity, which will include 8 featured speakers and 9 seminars on ecumenism-related topics, will meet from Monday April 16 to April 19 as registration continues.

The keynote speech, entitled "Vatican II: Preparing the Church for Dialogue" will be delivered by Dr. John Borelli of Georgetown University. A panel discussion entitled "Implementing the Surprises of Vatican II: Ecumenical and Interreligious Relations" will follow.

The workshop is overseen by leaders of various Christian communions and is sponsored by the National Ecumenical Officers Association.

The event - which has the theme "The Hope of Our Calling" taken from Ephesians 1:18 - is sponsored by the National Ecumenical Officers Association. It will be held at the Skirvin Hilton hotel.
