Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Superheroes Wii starter pack owners receives free Wii U version
Owners of Disney Infinity Starter Pack for Wii can now download the game for Wii U through Nintendo's eShop for free.
"Beginning today, the Nintendo eShop is offering a free download of Disney Infinity for you to play on your Wii U console! While you'll still need the Disney Infinity base and figure(s), those of you who already purchased the game for Wii can now enjoy the game on the Wii U with your existing accessories," writes the Disney Infinity Team in their website.
This was supported by a press release from the game developer's executive.
"Disney Infinity launched one year ago, and in that time the number of Wii U players has significantly expanded," Vice President and General Manager of developer Avalanche Software John Blackburn said.
Blackburn added, "Given our commitment to compatibility for our players, we wanted existing Wii owners to be able to experience the Wii U version of the first game for free. With the upcoming launch of the 2.0 Edition of Disney Infinity we want all Nintendo players to experience the game's Wii U functionality."
Game publisher Activision made a similar move back in July when they offered Skylanders Trap Team owner a free upgrade from Wii to Wii U.
Disney Infinity 2.0 is headed to PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, PC and iOS this coming September 24, according to executive producer John Vignocchi.
Aside from the regular toy set, fans can also expect Marvel's Avengers cast to be a part of the 2.0 edition.
Black Widow, Captain America, Hawkeye, Hulk, Iron Man and Thor will all be present in the game.
Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes Starter Pack for Nintendo Wii U (2.0 Edition) is available for pre-order for $74.99.
