'Deadpool' news: Full-length 'Red Band Trailer' excites fans
"Deadpool" has a lot of tricks up its sleeve including being the only movie to release a teaser trailer for the full-length trailer and then follow it up with the full-length trailer itself within 24 hours. And when the trailer did drop, all Marvel fanboys, were in no doubt, officially excited about the antihero movie.
Mentally-unstable and with a disfigured face, Deadpool was initially a supervillain, who evolved into an antihero well-loved by many for his adult humor. It is exactly this humor that was captured in the first official "Deadpool" trailer, dubbed "Red Band Trailer."
Ryan Reynolds is seen taking funny jabs at criminals while he is Deadpool and engaging in a funny yet NSFW exchange with his friend Weasel (T.J. Miller) when he is his alter-ego, Wade Wilson. Weasel and Wade joke about the latter's scarred face, describing him as looking like a male's private part "with teeth" or a Freddy Krueger face-f***ed a topographical map of Utah."
At the end of the two and a half minute trailer, Deadpool's friend call him "haunting" and throws another R-rated comment.
There will indeed be a lot of off-color comments and cursing in this movie which add to the antihero's reputation as the "Merc with a Mouth." In fact, this is the first R-rated Marvel film to hit the theaters.
But dark comedy and nudity are not all there is to "Deadpool." The trailer showed some lengthy fight scenes and some bloodshed, too. Wilson is seen toting his usual weapons to fight off crime.
Reynolds premiered the trailer himself during his guesting on "Conan" last Tuesday.
The Frank-Miller directed film will show the Marvel's antihero's origins. Wade contracted a cancer and was offered to participate in an experiment to cure it. The process left him with the powers to accelerate healing and with a dark sense of humor. He uses the power to seek revenge.
"Deadpool" hits theaters on Feb. 12, 2016.
