'Chicago Fire' season 5 premier espoilers: Severide and Stella to take a breather from relationship
Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) will soon end their affair in the upcoming season of "Chicago Fire."
Last installment, Stella's ex husband, Grant (Guy Burnet), caught them in an awkward situation at her house. He still had a key since they have not yet settled things out after the divorce. While Stella and Severide were busy with each other, Grant got a knife from the kitchen and was waiting for the right time to pounce. The episode ended with a cliffhanger, but viewers already got the idea that things would become even messier after the incident.
Showrunner Matt Olmstead previously told The Hollywood Reporter that Severide would feel antagonistic at Stella for dragging him into such a difficult situation. This will reportedly lead to a break-up but the EP said they have high hopes that the pair would be together again. Stella is the first woman Severide became interested with after Bianca Holloway (Jenny Mollen). There are still fans who do not like the pairing. Before Bianca died, she tried so hard to get Severide to propose to her.
"...there are some questions being asked in terms of what really went down, which all leads towards to Severide and Kidd having to take a break. But, all the while, hopefully convincing the audience, as we're convinced, that they're really made for each other. They're really similar and we want to create a sense of, it would be great for them to be together. Will circumstances afford that?" the EP said, according to THR.
Meanwhile, the promo photos in the upcoming season are already out. It looks like the precinct will once again be busy putting out fires. As per Latin Post, the stills show the cast members hard at work. There is one of Stella wearing her firefighter uniform and she appears to have just finished with an assignment.
"Chicago Fire" season 5 airs on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
