'Chicago Fire' season 4 episode 5 spoilers: Gabby continues to grieve; Chief Boden stands up to Riddle

(NBC)

Last week was a tough episode for "Chicago Fire" fans. The emotional fourth episode titled "Your Day Is Coming" saw Gabby Dawson having complications with her pregnancy. Viewers couldn't help but shed tears for Gabby and Matt Casey as they lost their unborn child.

In an all-new episode titled "Regarding This Wedding" airing this Tuesday, Nov. 10, Gabby continues to grieve. In a promo footage, she finally opens up about what she is going through. "In my mind, we were going to be this family. We would find a house together, fix it up together, grow old in it together... But that's not the way that it worked out," she says tearfully.

Despite all that she has been through, Gabby asks Chief Ray Riddle if she can rejoin the firehouse. Chief Riddle brings up the baby and advises Gabby to take additional leave. Gabby is deeply affected by the Chief's words and actions. Soon after, she is comforted by Casey, Chief Boden and Sylvie in the locker room.

Severide also gathers up the courage to talk to Chief Riddle and ask for his leadership position back. Chief Riddle tells him bluntly that he is not fit for duty.

Chief Boden can no longer stand Riddle's constant disregard for members of Firehouse 51. He stands his ground and decides to challenge him. "He wants to fight then let's fight," Boden says. Chief Boden announces that they will hold the wedding (which was earlier disrupted by a fire) in the firehouse, despite Riddle's objection.

Unfortunately, Riddle will be a difficult adversary. He approaches Captain Patterson about a possible job opening as Battalion Chief (Boden's job).

Meanwhile, Patterson will struggle to choose between loyalty towards leadership and loyalty towards his colleagues. In the past few episodes, Patterson seemed to be getting close to the other members. Will he be able to stand up to Chief Riddle?

Season four of "Chicago Fire" airs every Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
