'Charmed' reboot updates: Highly anticipated remake to arrive in 2018, not this fall

(Facebook/Charmed)Can the fans of Prue, Phoebe, and Piper expect a reunion of the Halliwell sisters on the "Charmed" reboot now that The CW wants a different script?

Bad news for "Charmed" fans all over the world as the highly anticipated reboot of the phenomenal series is not arriving this fall.

Fans of the cult classic series "Charmed" jubilated last month when The CW announced that it is rebooting the series. Although it was revealed that the remake will not involve the original cast members, because the reboot will be set two decades earlier than the time setting of the original series, the news still succeeded in creating a frenzy among "Charmed" fans.

However, according to an exclusive report of The Hollywood Reporter, "Charmed" cannot be expected to arrive this fall, the time of the year when current TV series drop their respective latest season offerings or new shows debut with their premiere season. Reportedly, the draft of the script failed to impress The CW bosses, hence, it has to be worked on again.

Apart from the script, it has also been learned that Jennie Snyder Urman, the would-be showrunner of the reboot, has her hands full with her responsibilities with "Jane the Virgin," which she also runs. As Urman is still busy with "Jane the Virgin," it is said that she cannot commit to the highly anticipated reboot this year, hence,The CW will offer "Charmed" in next year's TV premiere season instead, along with "The Lost Boys," which will also be a TV series remake of the 1987 blockbuster movie.

Now that The CW is delaying "Charmed," hope may not be lost for fans who wish to see the original Power of Three on the reboot: Holly Marie Combs (Piper), Alyssa Milano (Phoebe), and Rose McGowan (Paige) or Shannen Doherty (Prue). After all, there is no questioning that they were instrumental to the success of the series, which lasted eight seasons.

Doherty was part of the series from its seasons 1 to 3. According to the latest reports, the actress just finished her breast cancer treatment and will do some traveling until her next medical procedure this April.

On the other hand, McGowan's character was woven into the story in season 4 after Doherty's Prue was killed off in the series' season 3 for still unconfirmed reasons to date.

The original "Charmed" ran from 1998 to 2006.
