Boruto Naruto Manga release date May 9; Masashi Kishimoto reported to release a one-shot manga in April
The release date for the highly anticipated spin-off of the popular "Naruto Shippuden" manga, Boruto Naruto manga (no official subtitle yet), is drawing near. As detailed on the official countdown that Shueisha posted on its website, the premiere of this new manga is now set for May 9.
According to the report from Anime News Network, the Boruto Naruto manga chapters will get published once per month, and it will start its publication in this year's 23rd Shueisha's Shonen Jump Magazine issue.
Fans that are really eager to see new "Naruto" manga content are in luck. The source also reported that franchise creator Masashi Kishimoto is now scheduled to publish a one-shot manga from the franchise, and is it expected to become available on April 25, a few weeks prior to the official premiere of the Boruto Naruto manga. This one-shot is going to be published in the combined 22nd and 23rd issue of Shonen Jump Magazine.
Sadly, Kishimoto will step down from his current position and will act as a supervisor for the team who will be making the Boruto Naruto manga after the one-shot has been published. His assistant, Mikie Ikemoto, will then take his place as the lead for the "Next Generation" project and the Boruto manga series.
Important details for the series have not been revealed, unfortunately. However, it is quite obvious that most, if not all, of the old characters from "Naruto Shippuden" will most likely make an appearance in the manga, probably sometime down the line. And of course, the "next generation" will take the spotlight as this series was specifically made for them.
For now, though, it is best to just wait for the official news coming from Shueisha regarding the details of Boruto Naruto manga such as who will be the antagonist in the series, and most importantly, the title of this new story.
