'Battleborn' news: Winter update introduces Beatrix, unlocks core characters, and many more
A game is only as good as its latest improvement, and 2K Games is taking that to heart with the massive winter update for "Battleborn."
The most notable addition to the winter update is the introduction of Beatrix. She wields an enormous syringe arm, coupled with unique abilities that make her someone not to be messed around with.
A skills overview shows exactly what makes her a lethal character in the world of "Battleborn." Her skill, Infection, causes damage over time, crippling enemies to naught. Using Incistyx Injector, she applies Infection on her targets with increased damage when using scoped shots. Aside from being an offensive character, she also provides support through Patient Zero, granting an ally increased attack speed and damage.
She has more devastating attacks in her arsenal that make her a legitimate threat. Fulminate is a shooting skill that renders an enemy's evasive maneuvering useless as it follows its target. Perhaps her most fearsome skill is Outbreak, as it does exactly what it is described to do, spreading a plague to nearby enemies and obliterating them in the process.
Beatrix is available on Early Access for Season Pass and Deluxe edition holders since Jan. 19, while the rest of the players will be able to use her on Jan. 26.
It can be recalled that Alani, Pendles, Ernest, and Kid Ultra are already available, making that 30 playable characters in the world of "Battleborn." This gives more choices for gamers.
As for the 25 core characters, they are now unlocked and can be used after completing the Prologue. The unlock challenges will be replaced by alternate skins for characters, while those who have used their Hero Keys in the past will be getting them back.
A new DLC Story Operation dubbed "Oscar Mike vs. The Battle School" is also now accessible after the update. This is also available for players with the Season Pass, giving all the more reason to get it for an expanded experience.
On a PlayStation blog post, 2K Games community manager Kit Lukianov added that the update also allows the game to be ran on 1080p at up to 60 frames per second, and even at 4K at 30 frames per second for PS4 Pro support.
"Battleborn" is becoming more beautiful than ever. Meanwhile, more information on the winter update can be found here.
