According to the "Guardians of the Galaxy" director, these intergalactic superheroes will have a big role to play in the forthcoming "Avengers" film. They, however, will remain as supplementary characters. The main focus will still be on, as what the title suggests, the "Avengers."

Speaking to Complex, Gunn said, "You know listen, I don't think we should overstate things that it is an Avengers movie," before adding," But the Guardians are a part of the cosmic universe, they're a part of Thanos' stories, so, they are in there, and they have, not the biggest, but, an integral part to that."

Last month, Marvel released a teaser of "Infinity War," which is already in its initial stages of production. Showcasing the set of the film along with the massive green screen, the clip teased Robert Downey Jr. who will be reprising his role as Iron Man and Chris Pratt who will be reprising his role as the Star-Lord. "Avengers" newbie Spider-Man who will be portrayed by Tom Holland will also appear in the forthcoming films. Production started on Jan. 23.

"Avengers: Infinity War" is the culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe as started in May of 2008 with the release of "Iron Man 1," producer Kevin Feige shared.

Reports say that production for the film will move on to Scotland, in the Cockburn Street area of Edinburgh. Following lighting tests and equipment setups in the said place, drones will reportedly hover over the Old Town on Monday and Tuesday of next week. Meanwhile, toward the end of the month, production will transfer to the Royal Mile. In the first week of April, a few scenes involving explosions will reportedly be shot.

The first half of "Avengers: Infinity War" is expected to air in May 2018, while the second half is slated to debut a year after that.
